This is the complete 18×18 type effectiveness chart for Pokémon GO, covering every attacking type against every defending type, including Fairy. Pokémon GO uses its own set of multipliers rather than the mainline games' familiar 2×/0.5×/0× system, so a chart copied straight from the core series will give you the wrong numbers here. Read down a row to see how that attacking type performs against each defending type in the header.
Pokémon GO's damage multipliers
- Super effective: 1.6× damage (the mainline games' 2× matchups)
- Not very effective: 0.625× damage (the mainline games' 0.5× matchups)
- ~0.39× damage for the eight matchups that are a full "no effect" immunity in the mainline games (for example Ghost-type moves against Normal-types). Pokémon GO has no true immunities: instead these matchups behave like an extra-strong not-very-effective hit, roughly 0.625×0.625, which works out to about 0.390625×.
- 1× (neutral) for every other matchup, shown in the table below rather than left blank so every one of the 324 cells is unambiguous.

Dual types stack the multiplier
Most Pokémon have two types, and Pokémon GO multiplies the two matchups together rather than picking the worse one. A Rock/Ground Pokémon like Golem, for example, is hit by a Grass-type move at 1.6× because Grass is super effective against Ground, and at 1.6× again because Grass is super effective against Rock. Multiply those together and a Grass-type attack lands at 2.56× damage on Golem, noticeably harder than either single weakness would suggest. The same stacking works in reverse for double resistances, and it's the main reason two Pokémon that share a "weak to Water" label can take very different amounts of damage from the same attack.

Every cell here is derived directly from the same underlying type-vs-type data used to write our type pages, so the "strong against," "weak to," and "resists" lists on each individual type page and the numbers in this table are always describing the same matchups. Using the chart in practice
You rarely need to consult a full chart mid-battle: Pokémon GO's encounter and battle screens generally flag super-effective and weak matchups for you directly. Where a chart like this one helps most is team planning ahead of a raid or a Gym push, especially for stacking dual-type weaknesses on purpose, and for understanding why a matchup that looks neutral on paper (a single type advantage) can feel much stronger or weaker in practice once a Pokémon's second type is factored in.
FAQ
Why are Pokémon GO's numbers different from the main series games?
Pokémon GO has used softer multipliers than the mainline 2×/0.5×/0× system since launch, and the exact values were adjusted during the game's early years before settling at the ones shown here; every "no effect" immunity is replaced with a small amount of damage instead. The relative order of matchups (what beats what) is unchanged from the core games; only the multipliers themselves differ.
Does a same-type attack bonus stack with type effectiveness too?
