The guides on Trainer Hub explain how Pokémon GO works. Each section sticks to facts that stay stable from season to season, so you can trust a page months after it was written.

The three numbers worth remembering
Pokémon GO uses its own damage multipliers rather than the ones from the main series games. A super effective attack deals 1.6× damage, a not very effective attack deals 0.625×, and matchups that would have no effect at all in the main series instead deal roughly 0.39× in GO. Dual types multiply together, which is how a Pokémon can end up doubly weak or doubly resistant to one type. What we leave out on purpose
You won't find CP numbers, move damage values or lists of current raid bosses here. Those change often, sometimes with every balance update or season, and a stale number is worse than no number. For anything live, such as which Pokémon are in raids this week, the in-game news is the source to check. Everything in this database is written to stay true between those updates.
